Challenge: Is Rashad Khalifa a messenger of God?

"HOW TO DISTINGUISH . GOD'S MESSENGER FROM A FAKE MESSENGER

The Quran provides straightforward criteria to distinguish the true messengers of God
from the false messengers:

[1] God's messenger advocates the worship of God ALONE, and the abolition of all
forms of idol worship.

[2] God's messenger never asks for a wage for himself.

[3] God's messenger is given divine, incontrovertible proof of his messengership.

Anyone who claims to be God's messenger, and does not meet the three minimum criteria
listed above is a false claimant.

The most important difference between God's messenger and a fake messenger is that God's messenger is supported by God, while the fake messenger is not: * God's messenger is supported by God's invisible soldiers (3:124-126, 9:26 & 40, 33:9, 37:171-173, 48:4 & 7, 74:31).

* God's messenger is supported by God's treasury (63:7-8).

* God's messenger, as well as the believers, are guaranteed victory and dignity, in this world and forever (40:51 & 58:21).

Thus, the truthfulness of God's messenger invariably prevails, while the falsehood of a fake messenger invariably, sooner or later, is exposed.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES OF GOD'S
MESSENGER OF THE COVENANT
As stated in the Quran, 3:81, God's Messenger of the Covenant shall confirm all the scriptures, which were delivered by all the prophets, and restore them to their original purity.

MERCY FROM GOD [21:107]
When the believers are faced with a problem, they develop a number of possible solutions, and this invariably leads to considerable bickering, disunity, and disarray. We learn from 2:151, 3:164, and 21:107 that it is but mercy from God that He sends to us messengers to provide the final solutions to our problems. We learn from 42:51 that God sends His messengers to communicate with us, and to disseminate new information. Hence the strong injunction in 4:65, 80 to accept, without the slightest hesitation, the teachings delivered to us through God's messengers.

The following is a list of the principal duties of God's Messenger of the Covenant:

1. Unveil and proclaim the Quran's mathematical miracle (Appendix 1).
2. Expose and remove the two false verses 9:128-129 from the Quran (Appendix 24).
3. Explain the purpose of our lives; why we are here (Appendix 7).
4. Proclaim one religion for all the people, and point out and purge away all the corruptions afflicting Judaism, Christianity, and Islam (Appendices 13, 15, 19).
5. Proclaim that Zakat (obligatory charity) is a prerequisite for redemption (7:156), and explain the correct method of observing Zakat (Appendix 15).
6. Unveil the end of the world (Appendix 25).
7. Proclaim that those who die before the age of 40 go to Heaven (Appendix 32).
8. Explain Jesus' death (Appendix 22).
9. Explain the Quran's delivery to, then through Muhammad (Appendix 28).
10. Announce that Muhammad wrote God's revelations (the Quran) with his own hand (Appendix 28).
11. Explain why most believers in God do not make it to Heaven (Appendix 27).
12. Proclaim that God never ordered Abraham to kill his son (Appendix 9).
13. Proclaim the secret of perfect happiness (Introduction, xx).
14. Establish a criminal justice system (Appendix 37)."

What you see above is an extract from rk's appendix two which he has written to prove his false claims of messengership.I have selected the above extract to critically evaluate this part. Both the "Distinguishing" part and the "Principal" duty part.

to distinguish section"
In this section rk has given 3 points and then goes on to say "Anyone who claims to be God's messenger, and does not meet the three minimum criteria listed above is a false claimant."

Let us critisize point three;[3] God's messenger is given divine, incontrovertible proof of his messengership. The miracle of Mr rk is the code 19 discovery.According to him this miracle is divine. But he did the countings in a biased way just to get his desired 19 divisible count. For example :

"**First word (I)sm in its original form, as it is used in bismillah(invocation), is mentioned 115 times in the quran. Not divisible by 19. To get desired count, that is,19, he completely excluded ALL of its occurences!!! Instead, he counted the other form of that word, and that is "Ism", or more correct "ASM". But he was not consistent even in this arbitrary counting, he further excluded all of its plural forms and all the forms with sufixxes (hu) and (hi) what was NOT the case in other counts, for example when he counted all the forms of the words with root R- SH -D, when he wanted to prove his messengership"

When Rashad counted the four words in the opening statement of the Quran, he counted it's occurrences in their root form, i.e. all variations of the words with all the root letters represented.

The root word for the first word Name is Alif-Seen-Meem. Here is the file from the Index of the Quran showing the number of occurrences of this word. Click here

To verify the count of Rahman, click here

To verify the count of Raheem, click here, here and here

To verify the count of Allah, click here, here and here

The final section reports 1125 occurrences of Allah when there is in fact 1126. For your convenience, all the pages of that final section is enclosed here so you can count for yourself.

First page (last section starting with page 60), 61, 62, 63, 64, 65, 66, 67, 68, 69, 70, 71, 72, 73, 74, 75. To download all the files at once, click here

The Index missed counting the occurrence of Allah in Sura 1 verse 1. Taking these two facts into consideration, excluding the false verses 9:128-129, we end up with the total reported by Rashad- 2698, 19x142.

Some other facts about the opening statement:

It occurs in the Quran exactly 114 times, 19x6.

These four words occur in the whole Quran in multiples of 19.

  • Ism - 19 times.

  • Allah - 2698 times.

  • Rahman - 57 times.

  • Raheem - 114 times.

As if this was not enough, God made sure to eliminate all excuses by those who insist on disregarding his proofs, by making it so that these 2888 (19x19x8) occurrences of these 4 words occur in a total of 1919 verses in the whole Quran, or 19x101. For a detailed illustration of those facts, click here

These are not the opinions of any human being. These are facts observed in the Quran. In a scripture where God says;

Verse No

Sura 74 (The Hidden Secret)

74:30

Over it is nineteen.

74:31

We appointed angels to be guardians of Hell, and we assigned their number (19) (1) to disturb the disbelievers, (2) to convince the Christians and Jews (that this is a divine scripture), (3) to strengthen the faith of the faithful, (4) to remove all traces of doubt from the hearts of Christians, Jews, as well as the believers, and (5) to expose those who harbor doubt in their hearts, and the disbelievers; they will say, "What did GOD mean by this allegory?" GOD thus sends astray whomever He wills, and guides whomever He wills. None knows the soldiers of your Lord except He. This is a reminder for the people.

74:32

Absolutely, (I swear) by the moon.

74:33

And the night as it passes.

74:34

And the morning as it shines.

74:35

This is one of the great miracles.

Then I would like to note the point that divine miracles have no error in them because they come from the Almighty Creator of the heavens and the earth. But this so called miracle of rk has errors in it. Submitters from submission.org have admitted this (For example that the count of Laam by rk is WRONG in two verses and that this causes errors in th 19 code) and have said that they are continiuing counting and research.Rashadh Khalifa the claimer of being the "Messenger of the covenant" has died and his followers admit that his miracle has errors. This is completely unfitting of a divine miracle of GOD given to his messenger of the covenant. No where in history has a miracle of GOD needed human correcting and neither has it had errors. See the evidence from your own eyes that this miracle is INCOMPLETE. So to my understanding rk disqualifies in point 3 and therefore according to him he is a imposter Dajjaal.

You are correct in saying that no miracle of God has errors in it. The mathematical miracle of the Quran is no exception. The 'errors' lay only in our ability to understand and see God's miracle. As we've seen evidence of, some people even are unable to count the 19 letters in the opening statement and insist that they are 18, 20 or 21. The only thing they seem sure of is that they are not 19!

There are thousands of facts complied about the mathematical code of the Quran, ranging from the extremely easy-to-understand to the very complex facts, for which we need powerful computer programs to witness.

Among those thousands of facts, it is evident that God willed it for us to keep wondering about one or two details, to expose those who would throw out the entire miracle because they cannot yet grasp those two remaining pieces of this awesome code.

Stating that there is no miracle in the Quran because we are yet to understand about the two Lams would be equivalent to people walking behind Moses across the Red Sea, then complain about getting their feet wet when on the other side, then say, 'that was not really a miracle. If He had really parted the Red Sea, how come my shoes are wet?!'

Or, it would be equivalent to Lazarus turning to Jesus after being revided from the dead and say, 'Do you call this a miracle!? How come my limbs feel stiff?! How come my eye-sight is not as sharp as it used to be?! Huh!!?'

How arrogant wouldn't that be? Would any of us ever be so arrogant as to find excuses not to accept God's miracles? According to everything we've learned about our history the answer is a big Yes. The people of Moses turned around and worshipped the calf after seeing nine miracles, including the parting of the Red Sea. Imagine that!!

It can only be extreme arrogance when someone throws out literally hundreds of earth-shattering facts in the Quran, all pointing in the same direction, because you cannot understand them ALL!?

Surely there must have been some people who would claim that the Quran could not be from God because Mecca was spelled Becca in Sura 3?! Some people must have said, "A prophet that cannot even spell. No way!!! Forget him," Completely ignoring all the other signs and powerful message because of this one detail they simply could not understand at the time.

As it turns out the spelling of Becca was an important clue in the revelation of the mathematical miracle of the Quran, to be revealed 1400 years later. If Mecca had been spelled Becca in Sura 3, the total count of Initials in that sura would have been +1, and thus not exactly divisible by 19.

Compare that with the two initials still unaccounted for amongst the 30.000 initials that ARE accounted for!! Compare that with the literally thousands of Quranic facts that all add up to one and the same number and message: God is ONE (Wahed, which has a gematrical value of 19).

All of the facts presented FROM the Quran have nothing to do with Rashad Khalifa the person. They were there one thousand four hundred years before Rashad Khalifa was even born and are still there after he has left for anyone to verify.

The publication of the new counting of initials is the result of the enthusiasm by some submitters who are eager to grasp the final facts, to find explanations for themselves. As pointed out by Rashad Khalifa in one of his earlier publications about the miracle, there are different ways to count the Initial Alif, but regardless of method, all results end up in multiples of 19. That is exactly what they were able to verify.

"PRINCIPAL DUTIES OF GOD'S MESSENGER OF THE COVENANT As stated in the Quran, 3:81, God's Messenger of the Covenant shall confirm all the scriptures, which were delivered by all the prophets, and restore them to their original purity."

What does the above writing by rk mean?? He is saying that the messenger of the covenant shall confirm all the scriptures. Yes i can see that part in the Quran but I don't find anything about restoring the books to their original purity.. GOD did NOT say such a thing as restoring in verse 3:81. rk has made that part up. Even in his own translation that part doesn't come up.See for your self:

[3:81] GOD took a covenant from the prophets, saying, "I will give you the scripture and wisdom. Afterwards, a messenger will come to confirm all existing scriptures. You shall believe in him and support him." He said, "Do you agree with this, and pledge to fulfill this covenant?" They said, "We agree." He said, "You have thus borne witness, and I bear witness along with you."

Rk wanted to remove and do as he wants with Quranic verses to get his desired count, therefore he has written the part "and to restore them ..." as part of what is stated in 3:81. Then let's see the other point in this particular saying. Rk says that the messenger of the covenant has to restore all the scriptures to their original purity. BUT RK HAS NOT EVEN TRIED TO CORRECT THE BIBLE IN ANYWAY. HE IS ONLY AFTER THE QURAN.rk says that he as the messenger of the covenant must restore the scriptures to their orginial purity but has he purified the bible?? GOD never said that the messenger of the covenant must/will restore the scriptures.

Here is a very simple principle that will save you years of unnecessary pondering and studying, God willing. When you know what IS true, you also know what ISN'T true.

When you study the truth, you immediately recognize that is not in accordance with that truth.  That is how Rashad has purified all the previous scriptures, all by God's grace. When the mathematical miracle of the Quran was revealed, confirming every letter in the Quran, the final scripture to the world, that supersedes previous scriptures where they differ from the Quran, it automatically cleansed the previous scriptures as well.

As God says in the Quran, "What is there after truth except falsehood?" (10:32, 26; 53:28)

The unveiling of the mathematical miracle of the Quran was also accompanied by some startling conclusions for most people in the so called Muslim world. It showed that Muslims en masse have gone astray and actually abandoned the decrees in the Quran in favor of the fabricated sources Hadith and Sunnah.

It also showed that all the practices that have been passed down to us from Abraham have been distorted by adding the commemoration of other entities next to the commemoration of God. All duties in their purified state were presented by Rashad and supported by mathematical facts that conform to the mathematical code of the Quran.

"The most important difference between God's messenger and a fake messenger is that God's messenger is supported by God, while the fake messenger is not: * God's messenger is supported by God's invisible soldiers (3:124-126, 9:26 & 40, 33:9, 37:171-173, 48:4 & 7, 74:31)."

Look at what rk says above. rk was not supported because he was a lier and misguider. Is it fitting that GOD would let his messenger of the covenant be killed mercilessly? According to rk Muhammad is but a deliverer. But GOD protected Muhammad:

"[5:67] O you messenger, deliver what is revealed to you from your Lord - until you do, you have not delivered His message - and GOD will protect you from the people. GOD does not guide the disbelieving people."

And according to rk he is the messenger of the covenant. Surely The messenger of the covenant must be of higher rank that just a mere deliverer?? and yet GOD did NOT protect rk from being murdered and that also BEFORE his miracle was clear and well established (free from errors). Is this how GOD makes his messengers deliver His message to mankind? In half completed form?? With miracles with errors?? Do you think that the people of Moses would be afraid at seeing his staff change into a wood snake? or a rubber one?? Or would it be GOD's miracle had GOD burned half of Abraham when he was thrown in to the fire? This is GOD's miracles we are talking about.

Here you clearly, again, expose your ignorance of the Quran. God speaks in several verses throughout the Quran of people killing His prophets and messengers.

[2:91] When they are told, "You shall believe in these revelations of GOD," they say, "We believe only in what was sent down to us." Thus, they disbelieve in subsequent revelations, even if it is the truth from their Lord, and even though it confirms what they have! Say, "Why then
did you kill GOD's prophets, if you were believers?"

[3:183] It is they who said, "GOD has made a covenant with us that we shall not believe in any messenger, unless he produces an offering that gets consumed by fire." Say, "Messengers before me have come to you with clear proofs, including what you just demanded. Why then did you kill them, if you are truthful?"

That should be the end of the misconception you are trying to spread that anyone sent by God cannot be killed in His cause.

Another reminder that seem appropriate here is this verse:

[2:154] Do not say of those who are killed in the cause of GOD, "They are dead." They are alive at their Lord, but you do not perceive.

[4:157] And for claiming that they killed the Messiah, Jesus, son of Mary, the messenger of GOD. In fact, they never killed him, they never crucified him - they were made to think that they did. All factions who are disputing in this matter are full of doubt concerning this issue. They
possess no knowledge; they only conjecture. For certain, they never killed him.

About your complaints about the miracle, that challenge are sufficiently adressed in other articles on this site.

About your comment, "And according to rk he is the messenger of the covenant. Surely The messenger of the covenant must be of higher rank that just a mere deliverer??"

What do you mean 'a mere deliverer'? How is it fitting to use the words 'mere' and 'delieverer' when referring to delivering something from God in the same sentence?

What else are the prophets and messengers sent to do except deliver what they are sent with?

[3:20] ...If they submit, then they have been guided, but if they turn away, your sole mission is to deliver this message...

[5:67] O you messenger, deliver what is revealed to you from your Lord - until you do, you have not delivered His message...

[16:35] ...Can the messengers do anything but deliver the complete message?

[12:104] You are not asking them for any money; you simply deliver this reminder for all the people.

Please clarify what you mean with this.

Then you continue with....

"list of principal duties section" Look at the 7th numbered duty:-"7. Proclaim that those who die before the age of 40 go to Heaven (Appendix 32)." Is this sensible to any human mind?? If it was sensible then you would NEVER meet a true submitter of an Age above 40 because everyone would commit suicide before the age of 40 so that they can go to heaven rather than living more than 40 years and risking being sent to hell.

The age of 40 is the only age referred to in this manner in the two scriptures, the Bible and the Quran.

Significant about people who object to this merciful fact is that they never offer an alternative understanding, or age.

The question then follows, what age, in your mind, is the age when we become responsible for our actions and can be sent to Hell if we didn't lead a righteous life? is it 5? 10? 15? 20? 25? 30? 35?

The Quran specifically says that every person who ends up in Hell were given a "life-long chance, with continuous reminders". How long would you say a life-long chance is? (35:37)

About suicide: A believer will not commit suicide because God forbids it in the Quran:

[4:29] O you who believe, do not consume each others' properties illicitly - only mutually acceptable transactions are permitted. You shall not kill yourselves. GOD is Merciful towards you.

Anyway I just cannot a person as fake as rashadh khalifa because I prefer GOD's words above all liers. I hope I have exposed to you the fakeness of Mr Rk. If you still want to follow this lier I don't care. My duty is to share with you my knowledge and make you understand the facts. Before I finish this article I would like to point out some important facts.

As demonstrated here, you have no knowledge and the 'facts' you claim to represent are either knowingly based on lies, or a misguided understanding at best. The arguments you present are all based on your personal opinions, which God condemns (6:119, 38:26).

The real motives behind all your objects is that you mind following the direct commandments in the Quran telling us to dedicate your worship to God Alone. Isn't it so that you cannot make yourself abandon mentioning the name of Muhammad's in your prayers? If you are really following the Quran you will never do that again after reading 4:36, 4:146, 6:162, 39:3, 39:45, 40:12, 60:4, 72:18, 6:19.

Isn't is so that when you do your wudu, you do more than 4 steps as the Quran decrees (5:6)? Those were just two examples. There are hundreds of more.

Many people are going through a tremendous battle inside being pulled between the accepted way of practicing and looking at things by their society, family and friends, and between the clear Quranic facts that tells them something else. It is a battle that we all must face. Just remember that our families cannot save us on the Day of Judgement. Only God can.

*Quran says that Muhammad is a prophet and messenger of ALLAH.

Well, he WAS a prophet and a messenger. He is no longer here as he is dead. Muhammad did his job well and delivered the whole Quran to us, but he is no longer with us.

[39:30] You (Muhammad) will surely die, just like they will die.

Why do you put so much emphasis on Muhammad anyway? God says that we should not make any distinction among God's messengers.

[2:136] Say, "We believe in GOD, and in what was sent down to us, and in what was sent down to Abraham, Ismail, Isaac, Jacob, and the Patriarchs; and in what was given to Moses and Jesus, and all the prophets from their Lord. We make no distinction among any of them. To Him alone we are submitters."

[2:285] The messenger has believed in what was sent down to him from his Lord, and so did the believers. They believe in GOD, His angels, His scripture, and His messengers: "We make no distinction among any of His messengers." They say, "We hear, and we obey. Forgive us, our Lord. To You is the ultimate destiny."

*Prophet Muhammad confirmed the existing scriptures : [3:3] He sent down to you this scripture, truthfully, confirming all previous scriptures, and He sent down the Torah and the Gospel.

The Quran confirms existing scriptures yes, just as every new scripture confirms the previous one, just as every new prophet or messengers confirm the previous message, as they are all sent by one and the same source, God.

*Rashadh Khalifa did NOT purify ALL the scriptures as he claimed he should.

As explained above he purified all the scriptures in the most efficient way, by God's grace. When you know what is true and pure, you automatically know and can detect anyting that is not.

[14:27] GOD strengthens those who believe with the proven word, in this life and in the Hereafter. And GOD sends the transgressors astray. Everything is in accordance with GOD's will.

That is how it was done. It is quite an experience to read the Bible after reading the Quran.

*GOD never said that 19 is a miracle.

If it were to be made any clearer, God would have to stand in front of us and tell us Himself, by which time it would be too late.

God says that all the Initials prefixing 29 of His suras are "Miracles of this book of wisdom".

[10:1] A.L.R. These (letters) are the proofs of this book of wisdom.
[12:1] A.L.R. These (letters) are proofs of this profound scripture.

[13:1] A. L. M. R. These (letters) are proofs of this scripture. What is revealed to you from your Lord is the truth, but most people do not believe.
[15:1] A.L.R. These (letters) are proofs of this scripture; a profound Quran.

[26:2] These (letters) constitute proofs of this clarifying scripture.

God says that "over it is nineteen". All the letters are occurring in sets of 19. The miracle was revealed 1406 years, or 19x74 years after the revelation of the Quran, in 1974.

The number 19 is mentioned in Sura 74 in the Quran, a sura called the Hidden Secret. God says that He gave Muhammad "the seven pairs and the great Quran." (15:87) Seven in pairs equals 14. The Quranic Initials consist of 14 sets.  It is exactly 14 centuries between the time of Muhammad and the time of Rashad.

When you say your daily contact prayers, the Al-Fatehah, your lips touch 19 times, each time. They touch each time you say the letters B (gematrical value 2) and M (gematrical value 40). The total gematrical value of those 19 times is 608, which is 19x32. Sura 32 is entitled Sajdah, which is what you do when you do your Salat.

All of these facts above have nothing to do with the person Rashad Khalifa, but they have everything to do with God's design of His scripture and of His duties that He has sent to us, all, so that we will know that we are indeed following the proven truth and nothing else.

*GOD never told any of his slaves (us) to believe in a messenger of the covenant

Are you now saying that there is no such thing as God's Messenger of the Covenant?!

The actual title "The Messenger of the Covenant" is used in the Bible in Malachi 3:1-3, and is confirmed by verse 3:81 and 33:in the Quran.

In verse 33:7 God says, "Recall that we took from the prophets their covenant, including a pledge from you (O Muhammad), and from Noah, Abraham, Moses and Jesus the son of Mary. We took from them a solemn pledge."

As you can see from the Quran, Muhammad was part of the group of prophets who were asked to make this pledge, this covenant. So, what messenger and what covenant would you say this is, as you do not accept that it could be the one who already came and revealed to the world the proof of the Quran's authenticity?

What will he look like when he comes? What will he say? What will be his proof?

Is it not possible that he will come and present a physical, verifiable proof that the Quran is indeed the perfectly preserved final scripture to the world, calling people to return to worshiping God alone, as all previous messengers did?

[16:36] We have sent a messenger to every community, saying, "You shall worship GOD, and avoid idolatry." Subsequently, some were guided by GOD, while others were committed to straying. Roam the earth and note the consequences for the rejectors.

*GOD never told prophet Muhammad to give the people Glad tidings of a messenger to come after him

If we look to the Quran for guidance in the matter of this, we clearly see in the verses above that a messenger to come after Muhammad is clearly prophesied. In verse 7:35 we read that as long as there are children of Adam in this world, i.e. human beings, God will send messengers. We also read in 40:34, insisting that there will be no more messengers is a human trait. That is exactly what people said after Joseph came. What prophets and messenger came after Joseph?

*GOD did not say in the Quran to delete to verses or to count the initials or verses of the Quran to fit a 19 code.

Don't know if it's sad or absurd to see people who are not even concerned with adhering to what God actually DID SAY, be so concerned as with what God did NOT SAY....

God DID say that the letters preceeding/prefixing 29 of His suras are miracles of the Quran. How would we know how if we did not study them? Did God say anywhere in the Quran that we should NOT count them when studying them? Since He did not, why make such prophibitions or limitations?

Whether you think the letters should be counted or not, the fact of the matter is that people all over the world are counting and discovering the Quran to be the proven and preserved word of God. Is that such a bad thing that you must object in this manner, publicly trying to discredit the one who discovered the mathematical composition in the Quran with false statements?

*The miracle of Rk is incomplete

The mathematical miracle of the Quran confirms every single chapter (sura), verse (ayat) and letter in the entire Quran. It confirms all aspects of our duties that were delivered to us through prophet Abraham, the father of our religion (22:78). How is that incomplete?

*The miracle given to prophet Muhammad, The Quran is complete and fully detailed.
:[6:114] Shall I seek other than GOD as a source of law, when He has revealed to you this book fully detailed?* Those who received the scripture recognize that it has been revealed from your Lord, truthfully. You shall not harbor any doubt.

This is a wonderful reminder. The Quran is indeed perfect and fully detailed, as were the previous scriptures. All scriptures God has revealed has provided us with all the details we need at that time.

[7:145] We wrote for him on the tablets all kinds of enlightenments and details of everything: "You shall uphold these teachings strongly, and exhort your people to uphold them - these are the best teachings. I will point out for you the fate of the wicked."

[6:154] And we gave Moses the scripture, complete with the best commandments, and detailing everything, and a beacon and mercy, that they may believe in meeting their Lord.

*When GOD defined righteousness He did NOT include following messengers. Had it been like rk claims that every messenger is not a prophet then GOD would have included "believe in the Messengers" but did NOT.:

[2:177] Righteousness is not turning your faces towards the east or the west. Righteous are those who believe in GOD, the Last Day, the angels, the scripture, and the prophets; and they give the money, cheerfully, to the relatives, the orphans, the needy, the traveling alien, the beggars, and to free the slaves; and they observe the Contact Prayers (Salat) and give the obligatory charity (Zakat); and they keep their word whenever they make a promise; and they steadfastly persevere in the face of persecution, hardship, and war. These are the truthful; these are the righteous.

This challenge has already been adressed in another article on this site. But for the conveniece of the reader the answer is reproduced below.

There are several aspects of our belief which is not specified in this verse, yet beautifully included anyway. As always, God speaks to us in the most wise and effective manner. The way it works is that if a person truly believes in God, the Last Day, the angels, the scripture and the prophets, that person will believe everything else that is required to attain righteousness. If you take out even one of those components, a person cannot be a believer. Let us explain.

Belief in God

Obviously people who do not believe in God are automatically excluded from this category of people.

Belief in His angels

Then there are people who do believe in God, but do not believe in His system. That is part of what the angels represent - God's system - and all that entails. For example, God's system is that He, by choice, uses other entities to perform certain tasks to fulfill His plan. Not understanding or believing in His system causes some people to attribute power to God's creatures, and also causes some people to question God. Satan knows that God exists, without a doubt, but he rejects God's system, rejects His absolute authority. Thus he is described as a disbeliever.

Belief in the Last Day

Then there are people who believe in God and His angels, but do not believe in the Last Day. They do not believe that they will face God one day and be held accountable. This causes them to deviate in this life, and not take the commandments seriously. Some people completely reject the idea of a retribution or a reward at the end of this life. If a person does not believe in the Hereafter, the objective for doing good cannot be tied to God and His system, but most probably to people and their system. That is not good enough (4:124, 16:97, 17:19).

Belief in His revelations

Then there are people who believe in God, His angels and the Last Day but do not believe in God's scriptures and thus prophets. That is not good enough. God did not send His commandments and guidance for nothing. We demonstrate our belief by upholding His commandments. At the same time it helps us develop our souls (7:8). This is necessary, as we read in 6:158 and 10:91.

Belief in ALL His revelations

Then there are people who believe in God, His angels, the Last Day and His scripture, but not all His scriptures and thus not all His prophets. They may believe in one or two, but not in all of them. Thus they reject some of God's revelations and make distinction between God's prophets and revelations, which is not a trait of the righteous (2:136, 2:285, 3:84, 4:150). This is equivalent to saying "I like this part of what God said but not this other part." Perhaps this is why we read believe in God's "scripture", singular in 2:177. As it all is from God, it is in fact one scripture sent down in stages to us, the Quran being the final part, the final testament.

A righteous person will...

If a person believes in God, His angels, the Last Day, His scripture and the prophets, that person WILL believe in God's messengers, because they all confirm previous scriptures. That person will also keep their chastity and observe Hajj if they can afford it and fast in the month of Ramadan, since it is explained in the scripture, eventhough it is not specified in this verse in particular.
